Virtual Summer Camps

The Music Studio’s Virtual Summer Camps are designed with the focus of giving each student the best summer camp experience! Our Virtual Camps are available in July and August.

Virtual Kidzrock Summer Camps: You’re Never Too Young to Rock’n’Roll - Ages: 4-7

Dates: Camp A: July 6-10. Camp B: July 20-24. Camp C: Aug. 24-28.
Time: 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm.
Size: Maximum of 6 students.
Cost: $100.
Instruments: One or more of the following: keyboard, drum set, guitar, ukulele xylophone.
Parental Involvement: Yes, to set-up and assist when needed.
Description: This camp is based on The Music Studio’s popular Kidzrock program.
Features Include: Hello and welcome song - “Gathering Drum” to learn rhythm and other musical concepts - Flashcard rhythm exercises and games - Playing Kidzrock songs on instruments - Playing along with the online Chrome Music Maker - Improvise, jam and compose a song - Sing a Kidzrock song - Musical craft assignment.
Goals: Your child will work towards musical goals with other children in this fun and educational camp! No previous musical experience required.

Virtual Singer - Songwriter Camps: Sing, Create & Perform - Ages: 12 & Up

Dates: Camp A: July 6-10. Camp B: July 20-24. Camp C: Aug. 24-28.
Time: 11:00 am - 12:00 pm.
Size: Maximum of 4 students.
Cost: $120.
Equipment: Writing utensil, journal and chordal instrument i.e. keyboard, piano, guitar or ukulele.
Parental Involvement: None required.
Description: Students learn how to use a journal and gem pages for their ideas that are keepers - The concept of object writing using stream of consciousness - How to add the five senses to their writing - How to add the who, what, why, where and when to their writing - How to create similes and metaphors - Perspective and point of view - Rhythm, rhyme and productive repetition - Song structure - Musical triads on scale degrees, chord progressions and chord value.
Optional Craft Assignment: Design cover art for their original song.
Goals: To write and complete an original song and to perform the original song on the last day of camp (optional). No previous training required.

Virtual Rock Band Video Projects: Summer is a Great Time to Rock! - Ages 7 & Up

Dates: Camp A: July 6 - July 8. Camp B: July. 13 - July 15. Camp C: July 20-22. Camp D: Aug. 17-19.
Note: Other days may be possible within each camp week based on the availability of each student.
Schedule for Each Day: Group class - 30 minutes, Private lessons - 60 minutes, Band meeting - 30 minutes
Time: All students begin each day at 12:30 pm. Organized independent practice time is also scheduled for each student each day.
Size: 3 or more students.
Cost: $299.
Equipment: Instrument of choice and computer with webcam, headphones.
Parental Involvement: Minimal assistance with set-up and joining classes on time, and ensuring that the recording is made and sent to The Music Studio.
Description: Learn how to play in time independently - Learn how to play along with a backing track and metronome - Learn how to record a song - Participate in a remote video collaboration with other students.
Goals: Each student records their own parts as part of their band. The Music Studio then edits the parts together into a final recording and video - Just like the pros do it! At least one year of playing experience is required.

In-Person Summer Camps

The Music Studio’s In-Person Summer Camps build on many years of popular and successful summer camps presented by The Music Studio. Our In-Person Camps are available this August.

Note: The Music Studio’s In-Person Summer Camps will only take place if we are permitted to do so by government and health authorities. The health and safety of our students and staff is The Music Studio’s top priority. The Music Studio will follow all disinfecting and social distancing protocols implemented by government and health authorities for all in-person camps. Musical Beginnings Camps: Introduce Your Child to Music - Ages: 4-6

Dates: Camp A: August 17 - August 21. Camp B: August 24 - August 28
Time: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.
Size: Maximum of 7 students.
Cost: $300.
Description: Children learn basic singing and keyboard skills as they sing and learn rhythms by ear. They explore sounds and note reading on the keyboard individually and together as they learn to work as a team to make music. No previous musical experience required.

Kidzrock Camp: You’re Never Too Young to Rock’n’Roll - Ages 4-7

Dates: August 5 & 6.
Time: 1:00pm - 5:00pm
Size: Maximum of 5 students.
Cost: $120.
Description: Students learn: the basics of guitar, drums, and keyboards; how to read and play notes on the treble and percussion clef; improvisation; singing on pitch; musical dynamics; musical terminology. The camp includes arts & crafts and physical activity. Final day performance.

Singing & Songwriting Camp: Sing, Create & Perform - Ages: 10-16

Dates: Aug. 31-Sept. 4.
Time: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Size: Maximum of 6 students.
Cost: $210.
Description: Students develop confidence and discover new interests while learning to sing, perform, write and record songs at this fun camp. No previous training required.

Rock Band Camps: Summer is a Great Time to Rock! - Ages 7 & Up

Dates: Camp A: Aug.10 - Aug.14. Time: 12:30-4:30 pm Camp B: Aug. 31-Sept. 4
Time: 3:00-7:00 pm
Size: Maximum of 6 students.
Cost: $370.
Description: Topics include: learning songs by notation & by ear, improvising, learning different musical styles and how to play in a band. Camp includes a recording & performance. At least one year of playing experience is required.

Guitar Maintenance Workshop: Learn How to Maintain and Care for Your Guitar - All Ages

Topics include: string replacement, tuning, intonation, setting up the action, cleaning your guitar, adjusting pick-up height of electric guitars, the effects of different types of wood used to make guitars, the effect of aging on a guitar.

Payment

  • Payment is by credit card (Visa or MasterCard) or Interac e-Transfer.
  • Virtual Camps - Payment in full is required at registration.
  • In-Person Camps - A 50% deposit is required at registration. The balance is due two weeks prior to the start date of each camp.
  • You will receive a full refund of your deposit for an In-Person Camp for any reason up to two weeks prior to the start date of the camp.
  • Payment for an In-Person Camp may be transferred to a Virtual Camp, space permitting, up to two weeks prior to the start date of the In-Person Camp.
  • Additional Information - Extended drop-off & pick-up times are available for In-Person Camps which take place at The Music Studio unless otherwise noted.
