DRUMS & HAND DRUMMING LESSONS

IN-PERSON AND LIVE & INTERACTIVE ONLINE DRUM AND HAND DRUM LESSONS AVAILABLE WITH OUR PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS.

DRUM LESSONS

Beginning drum set students first learn proper drum technique including the correct grip and playing motion, and how to coordinate their hands and feet when playing the drum set. Rock, jazz and Latin drum beats, as well as drum fills, are covered and students also learn how to play the drum parts for songs that they want to learn. More advanced students may focus on further developing their technique and skills such as independence and chart reading, as well as soloing concepts for different musical styles. All lessons are taught using acoustic drums. Students may also use a drum practice pad instead of a drum set for their lessons. For students with a practice pad, the focus is on developing additional technical skills with their hands that can also be applied to all styles of drumming. All drum students learn rhythm reading skills and standard drum music notation.

HAND DRUMMING LESSONS

As a hand drum student, you will learn traditional hand drumming patterns on a West African Djembe (pronounced: gem-bay) drum. The musical and relaxation aspects of hand drumming may be enjoyed individually or as part of a group with other hand drum students. Explore the language of the drum in our educational and fun learning environment. The Music Studio has djembes for students to use during their lessons.
