Anthony D’Alessandro

Anthony D’Alessandro is a pianist, educator, composer, and bandleader based in Toronto, Ontario. He holds an Honours Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Piano Performance from the University of Toronto, where he studied privately under David Braid, Mark Eisenman, David Restivo and Steve Wallace, among others.  Prior to his jazz studies, Anthony trained classically through the Royal Conservatory of Music.

In addition to working as an in demand freelance pianist, Anthony leads his own jazz trio playing original music rooted in swing, blues and traditional jazz.  Anthony has performed in many of Ontario’s finest venues and festivals including the Toronto Summer Music Festival, the Barrie Jazz and Blues Festival, the Jazz Sudbury Festival, the Rex Hotel Jazz and Blues Bar, Lula Lounge and the Old Mill Toronto.  He has shared the stage with a number of Canadian luminaries including Chase Sanborn, Jackie Richardson, Steve Wallace, Steve McDade, Billy Newton-Davis and Drew Jurecka.

Anthony has been teaching music for over six years to a variety of students and skill levels.  He believes that the student/teacher relationship is crucial for the success of a student and strives to teach material which the student is passionate about.  Anthony enjoys spreading the joy of music with others and believes that anyone, with the right mindset, can achieve their musical (and non-musical) dreams.
