Dave Mattar —Guitar, Bass

Head shot of Dave Mattar

Dave Mattar is a guitarist, composer and arranger, music educator, and audio technician. Dave started at age 12 with guitar lessons, but quickly added piano and theory lessons too. He was soon playing in bands and giving lessons after school. Upon graduating high school, Dave successfully auditioned for the Humber College music program. He graduated in 1989 with honours and the Gordon Delamont award for high achievement in composition.

Since graduating from Humber, Dave has made his living as a professional musician. He has performed with bands such as Fast Forward, Midnite Hour, Avenue Road, and Kiddy-Okee. Dave resumed teaching music after college, and welcomed opportunities to write and record music for theatrical works such as: A Mountain Of Garbage, Everyone Has Feelings, Stories of Light, and Winds Of Change by Waterwood Theatre Projects; The Lost Land by Shakespeare in Action, and Whispers In The Dark by Golden Horseshoe Players.

Dave believes that music is important, and that it's also important that it be fun. As an instructor, he stresses the basics such as reading, technique, and theory, but also encourages his students to learn to play the music they love, and to develop their own style.
