The Music Studio's Summer Camp Guide

Do-Re-Mi Musical Beginnings Camp: Introduce Your Child to Music - Ages: 4-6

Dates: Aug. 20 - Aug. 24.
Time: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Size: Maximum of 7 students
Cost: $395.
Description: Children learn basic singing and keyboard skills as they sing and learn rhythms by ear. They explore sounds and note reading on the keyboard individually and together as they learn to work as a team to make music. No previous musical experience required.

Creative Arts Camp: Fun & Educational - Ages 4-7

Dates: July 9 - July 13.
Time: 9:00 am - 4:15 pm.
Size: Maximum of 12 students.
Cost: $375.
Description: Camp features include: music, arts & crafts, story time & role-play, drama, art journal and outdoor activities.

Location: The Assembly Hall (Kipling Ave. & Lake Shore Blvd. W.)

Kidzrock Camps: You’re Never Too Young to Rock’n’Roll - Ages 4-7

Dates: Camp A: August 13 & 14. Camp B: August 15 & 16.
Time: 10 am-2 pm.
Size: Maximum of 5 students.
Cost: $120.
Description: Students learn: the basics of guitar, drums, and keyboards; how to read and play notes on the treble and percussion clef; improvisation; singing on pitch; musical dynamics; musical terminology. The camp includes arts & crafts and physical activity. Final day performance.

Piano Plus Camp: Piano, Drumming & More - Ages: 7-10

Dates: Camp A: July 16 - July 19. Camp B: July 23 - July 26.
Time: 10:00 am - 12:00pm.
Size: Maximum of 8 students.
Cost: $100.
Description: Students play music written for piano ensembles, perform solo piano pieces, and learn bucket drumming and body percussion. Develop skills such as: listening, memory, creativity, concentration & coordination. Final day performance. At least one year of piano instruction is required.

Music Theatre Camps: Take a Trip to Broadway - Ages 8-16

Dates: July 9 - July 13.
Time: Full-day camp - 9:00 am - 4:15 pm; Half-day camp - 12:30 - 4:15 pm.
Size: Maximum of 12 students.
Cost: Full-day camp - $490; Half-day camp - $275. Camp fee includes one private lesson, costumes and performance.
Description: Students learn: singing, acting, dance & movement and scene study.
Teacher: Brenna Robins.

Singing & Songwriting Camp: Sing, Create & Perform - Ages: 8-16

Dates: July 16 - July 20.
Time: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
Size: Maximum of 15 students.
Cost: $195.
Description: Students develop confidence and discover new interests while learning to sing, perform, write and record songs at this fun camp. No previous training required.

Rock Band Camps: Summer is a Great Time to Rock! - Ages 7 & Up

Dates: Camp A: July 9-July 13. Camp B: July 23-July 27. Camp C: Aug.13-Aug.17.
Time: 12:30 pm-4:30 pm.
Size: Maximum of 6 students.
Cost: $350
Description: Topics include: learning songs by notation & by ear, improvising, learning different musical styles and how to play in a band. Camp includes a recording & performance. All levels welcome.

Ear Training Camp: Develop Your Musical Ear - Ages 10 & Up

Dates: July 16 - July 20.
Time: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
Size: Maximum of 8 students.
Cost: $250
Description: Students develop ear training skills through listening analysis, singing and playback exercises, transcribing music and by playing what they have transcribed with a goal of transcribing an entire song. For all students who are able to read treble and bass clef notes.

Theory & Harmony Classes: Prepare for Levels 5, 6, 7 or 8 RCM Theory Exams

Dates: Theory Levels 5, 6, 7 & 8: Tues. & Thurs. - July 3 - August 9.
Size: Maximum of 4 students per level.
Time: Theory Levels 5 & 7: 10am-11:30am. Theory Levels 6 & 8: 12pm-1:30pm.
Cost: $445. Theory book extra.
Description: These classes are for students who are registering for their Theory Level 5, 6, 7 or 8 RCM exam in August.
Teachers: Theory Levels 5 & 6 - Lisa Raposa; Theory Levels 7 & 8 - Greg Millar.

Guitar Maintenance Workshops

Learn how to maintain and care for your guitar.
Topics include: string replacement, tuning, intonation, and setting up the action. Dates & Times TBA.
