Ensemble Program
Experience the joy of making music with other students in one of The Music Studio’s exciting ensembles. Joining an ensemble is a great way to further develop your musical skills and confidence in a relaxed learning environment while making new friends.
The Music Studio’s ensembles are designed for children and adults who are comfortable with at least the basics of their instrument, and are intended to complement a student’s private lessons. Students are organized according to musical interests, skill level and age.
Fast Track Ensemble
Learn rock & pop hits from graded songbooks. Songs include: Brown Eyed Girl, Wild Thing & You Really Got Me. Instrumentation: Vocal, Guitar, Piano, Bass & Drums. Teacher: Dave Mattar.
Time: Wednesday 6:15 or 8:15pm
Cost: Fall/Winter Session (September - January) $342 for 19, 45 minute classes.
Winter/Spring Session (February - June) $378 for 21, 45 minute classes.
Play-In-The-Band Ensemble
Learn to play rock, blues & jazz songs by ear in this innovative ensemble. Your ensemble experience is enhanced with customized computer backing tracks. Instrumentation: For all instruments. Teacher: Arnold Faber.
Time: Monday 8:00pm or Saturday 9:30am
Cost: Fall/Winter Session (September - January) $396 for 18, 60 minute classes.

Pop/Rock Ensemble
Learn to play classic & contemporary songs by ear. Instrumentation: Vocal, Guitar, Piano, Bass & Drums. Teacher: Nick Scott.
Time: Thursday 7:00pm Saturday 3:30pm

Jazz Ensemble
Learn essential jazz skills including: chart reading, soloing & comping. Instrumentation: Vocal, Piano, Guitar, Bass, Drums Trumpet, Trombone & Saxophone. Teacher: Arnold Faber.

Guitar Ensemble
Learn classic & contemporary rock or jazz songs arranged for beginning to intermediate level students. Songs include: Crazy Train, Smoke On The Water & Blue Skies. Teacher: Dave Mattar.

Pop Vocal Ensemble
Learn songs from a variety of popular music styles while learning proper vocal techniques. Professional vocal arrangements are used for this exciting ensemble designed for vocal and non-vocal students 9 years of age & up. Teacher: Angie Hilts.
Time: Thursday 5:30pm
Cost: Fall/Winter Session (September - January) $198 for 11, 45 minute classes.
Winter/Spring Session (February - June) $273 for 21, 30 minute classes.
Musical Theatre Class
Students learn to sing, dance and act. Scene study skills are also taught. A vocal assessment may be required. Teacher: Stacie Carmona.
Time: Saturday 12:00pm
Cost: Fall/Winter Session (September - January) $288 for 16, 45 minute classes.
Winter/Spring Session (February - June) $342 for 19, 45 minute classes.
Location: Islington United Church, directly across from The Music Studio.
String Ensemble
Students playing for at least one year will learn music from the classical string repertoire. Instrumentation: Violin, Viola & Cello. Teachers: Lucian Fetila or Linnea Thacker. All classes are 45 minutes.
Time: Tuesday 6:30pm
Cost: Fall/Winter Session (September - January) $360 for 20, 45 minute classes.
Winter/Spring Session (February - June) $260 for 20, 30 minute classes.
Woodwind Ensemble
Students playing for at least one year will learn classical & contemporary woodwind repertoire. Instrumentation: Saxophone, Flute & Clarinet. Teacher: Jeff LaRochelle.
Time: Monday 5:30pm

Winter/Spring Session (February - June) $324 for 18, 45 minute classes.
Brass Ensemble
Students playing for at least one year will learn classical & contemporary brass repertoire. Instrumentation: Trumpet, Trombone French Horn & Tuba. Teacher: Stefan Lipoczi.
Time: Monday 7:00pm
Cost: Fall/Winter Session (September - January) $324 for 18, 45 minute classes.
Winter/Spring Session (February - June) $234 for 18, 30 minute classes.
Hand Drumming Ensemble
Students participate at their own skill level in this fun and educational ensemble. Drums are provided for class use. Teacher: Arnold Faber.
Time: Saturday 3:30pm

Winter/Spring Session (February - June) $273 for 21, 30 minute classes.
Djembe drums are available for use during class but we recommend that students have
their own drum. Hand drums may be purchased from The Music Studio in Etobicoke (Toronto).

Bucket Drumming Ensemble
Students learn music written for buckets and compose their own bucket music. Sticks & buckets are provided. Teacher: Ed Lettner.
Time: Thursday 4:30pm
Cost: Fall/Winter Session (September - January) $247 for 19, 30 minute classes.
Winter/Spring Session (February - June) $273 for 21, 30 minute classes.
Percussion Ensemble
Drummers of all ability levels apply the skills they learn in their lessons playing music written for percussion instruments. You will improve your music reading skills and develop your ability to learn music by ear while integrating your part with the overall ensemble sound. You will learn how to play a variety of percussion instruments. This is especially helpful for students in school music programs. Teacher: Arnold Faber.
Time: Saturday 2:30pm
Cost: Fall/Winter Session (September - January) $324 for 18, 45 minute classes.
Winter/Spring Session (February - June) $378 for 21, 45 minute classes.
Ensemble fees are charged on a per session basis. Fees are payable in full on or before the first class of the session. Fees for the Fall/Winter Session may be paid in two equal instalments, with the second instalment due on November 15. Sessions begin in September, February and July.
There is no registration fee at The Music Studio in Etobicoke (Toronto).
Class Cancellations - A make-up class will only be scheduled if a class is cancelled by your teacher. You will not receive a credit for a missed class.
